One of the most enjoyable parts of the F3 the festival crew puts together is the High School Competition. A part of the festival since it’s very first year, this competition allows regional high school students to submit, have judged, and have their film screened during the Frederick Film Fest. It is an opportunity to have their film seen by their peers and their community, and a chance to see other filmmakers’ works as well.

Like the rest of the film festival, this year’s submissions were plentiful with the following seven films selected as finalists:

Immolation - Garrison Irwin and Gabriella Punturiero: Frederick County Career and Technology Center

Dead Awakening – Samuel Swanzy, Gustave Njapon, Iva Tchangalov, and Erin Gary: Seneca Valley High School

Girl in the Void- Bryan Morrison, Logan Barrick: Frederick County Career and Technology Center

Lanterns - Lexi Tauberman: Poolesville High School

Elixir - Jason Allison: Carter Center for the Arts and Technology

Mwiza - Samuel Swanzy, Gustave Njapon, Ivo Tchangalov, Erin Gary: Seneca Valley High School

Tabula Rasa – Garrison Irwin and Gabriella Punturiero: Frederick County Career and Technology Center

Thanks to everyone who submitted, be sure and come out and see some great film by some talented young filmmakers and cheer for your favorite.
